DHARMA WARNING: PEOPLE'S OPPOSITION TO THE AID DATA CENTER BOOM WILL AFFECT THE MARKET
On 15 July, Morgan Stanley ' s latest warning stated that popular opposition to the surge in artificial intelligence infrastructure (data centres) would affect the market. The Bank noted that projects valued at approximately $156 billion had been cancelled or extended in 2025, while projects valued at $130 billion had been affected in the first quarter of 2026 alone. According to the United Nations, “the resistance to future data centre construction will obviously have an impact on the timing and intensity of the capital expenditure cycle, either extending its duration or reducing total investment requirements”
