On 15 July, according to the British Financial Times, a number of informed sources revealed that the European Commission planned to publish a series of sanctions decisions against Google in the coming week. This will further strengthen EU regulation of large science and technology enterprises as the tension between the EU and the United States over digital regulation begins to ease. According to an internal European Commission document and a number of persons with knowledge of the relevant plans, the EU law enforcement agencies will make a number of independent decisions against Google and impose fines amounting to hundreds of millions of euros. This enforcement action will also include the threat of daily punishment, as well as new regulatory directives under the Digital Market Act (DMA). Under the EU Digital Markets Act, offending enterprises may face fines of up to 10 per cent of their global turnover, while the Google parent company Alphabet received $40,283 million last year.
