the united kingdom has signed contracts with a number of companies and plans to complete the development of the first ballistic missile for more than 50 years by the end of next year, with a view to delivering it to ukraine in 2027. in order to accelerate the progress of research and development, the british department of defense has reduced some of its technical targets, and the defence enterprise involved in the project “project nightfall” must complete a successful test before it can obtain a missile production contract. the missile will begin to be tested in the next 12 months and is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2027. the project initially required missiles with a range of more than 600 kilometres, with 300 kilograms of warheads, at a cost of less than pound500,000 for a single missile, and then adjusted to a range of 500 kilometres, 200 kilograms of warheads, with a maximum cost of pound800,000 for a single missile。
