Officially included in NASDAQ 100, SpaceX down by 5%
On 7 July, SpaceX (SPCX.US) fell by over 5 per cent, reporting $159.3. According to the news, SpaceX is today officially included in the NASDAQ 100 Index, the first enterprise in the index to have its core space operations. Morgan Chase measured its weight in the index at about 1.3 per cent. According to Paul Meeks, Head of Technical Studies, Freedom Capital Markets, this inclusion “may be less meaningful than market expectations” because the rules are transparent and the market has digested some of the effects ahead of time. It is also noteworthy that a court action ordered SpaceX to shut down the gas turbines that powered its colossus 2 data centre on the grounds that it operated without the required permit. This action could jeopardize part of the $45 billion contract between SpaceX and Anthropic. It is likely that the lower court will order the shut-down of the turbines during the licence period, but may also give SpaceX some time to comply。
