The United States mortgage rate rose to 6.55 per cent, the highest since August 2025
On 17 July, the interest rate on United States mortgages rose to its highest level in almost a year, again raising concerns about inflation as tensions in the Middle East rose again. In its statement on Thursday, United States premises indicated that the average interest rate on mortgages at fixed interest rates over a 30-year period was 6.55 per cent, up from 6.49 per cent a week earlier. The latest interest rates reached their highest level since late August. Mortgage interest rates rose for the second consecutive week, with high rates of return on US Treasury debt; the collapse of the interim peace agreement between the United States and Iran had pushed US debt up。
