Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran: United States suspension of sanctions violations of the memorandum of understanding
On 8 July, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on 8 July, condemning the lifting by the United States Treasury of the suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil sales, stating that the act constituted a serious violation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iraq on 18 June and that the United States Government should be held responsible for the consequences of that violation. At the same time, the statement states that, over the past 20 days, the United States, as well as through Israeli actions against Lebanon, has repeatedly violated, directly or indirectly, the different provisions of the memorandum of understanding. While warning about the possible consequences of United States non-compliance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated that it would take whatever measures it deemed necessary to preserve its national interests and security.
