Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran: Not to accept the allegations made by Qatar against Iraq regarding the attack on the vessel
On 8 July, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bagahe local time, stated on 7 July that the allegations made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar against Iran regarding an attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on 6 July were questionable and contrary to the principle of good-neighbourliness, and stressed that such acts were unacceptable. Baagae invokes article V of the memorandum of understanding signed on 18 June, which commits Iran to take the necessary measures to ensure the management and provision of maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz. Al-Bagae indicated that Iran was seriously implementing its commitments and expected that the countries of the region, in particular Qatar, as the facilitator of the memorandum of understanding, would refrain from any action contrary to the provisions of the above-mentioned memorandum of understanding.
