Military Adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran: the Mehdi Memorandum of Understanding is dead

On 18 July, at local time, Mohsen Rezai, the military adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran, stated that the United States had violated the terms of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iraq, which was now in existence. Rezai also indicated that the United States military was launching a large-scale attack on infrastructure in southern Iran through a hybrid war. With renewed attacks by United States forces, Iran has expanded the scope of its war, as previously warned. Rezai said that if the United States continued its attacks in the coming days, the Iranian armed forces would move beyond the current phase of “deterrence and retaliation” to the phase of “comprehensive attack and destruction”. At that time, bases and soldiers outside United States borders will be directly targeted. The United States should know that its consumption strategy of “bring-and-talk” is deadlocked.
