CHEN MOBO: HONG KONG WILL PUT IN PLACE POLICIES TO SUPPORT SMES TO ADOPT AI

The Director-General of Finance of the HKSAR Government, Chen Mobo, announced on 19 September that the HKSAR Government would introduce an optimized version of the Digital Transition Support Pilot Programme to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the implementation of a ready-made artificial intelligence programme. Hong Kong ' s AI layout has been advanced on a case-by-case basis into the system layout phase, with a view to enabling AI to do its job. According to Chen Mobo, Hong Kong, as the International Centre for Innovation Science and Technology, with the advantages of interconnectivity under the “one country, two systems”, is both a place of R & D transformation and a strategic adaptation of the Mainland AI enterprise to sea, which can assist in the interface of cutting-edge technologies and business models with international standards and applications. He indicated that the HKSAR Government attached great importance to AI-related infrastructure and ecology. The Sailing Data Park has begun work and will provide approximately 180,000 PFlops by 2032, or 36 times the current total in Hong Kong; the Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Institute is also about to become operational; and the Hong Kong Investment Corporation, which is fully owned by the HKSAR Government, has invested 56 per cent of its funds last year in hard technology, including AI. According to Chen Mobo, STI and AI have rapidly become indispensable elements of life, and this generation of young people can be described as growing up with AI, which is a partner in day-to-day work and in the process of thinking, whether it is supporting learning or collecting thematic information. He said that artificial intelligence was a major trend in technological change and that the HKSAR Government promoted “AllA” to promote awareness, learning and use of artificial intelligence throughout society and to encourage young people to pay more attention to science, technology and innovation, which would help them to start up their studies and future jobs.
