On 8 July, the Street reported that Frank J. Russo, a candidate for independent governor of Florida, had announced that he would accept a donation of encrypted currency to become the first candidate for such a donation in the state's 2026 governorship election, and that all encrypted donations would comply with the current federal and state campaign financial laws.
