On 19 July, CoinDesk reported that foreign stable currency issuers, such as Tether, might need to meet the requirements of the GENIUS Act by July 2028, or risk losing their qualifications on the United States Centralized Exchange. Compliance requirements may include registration with the United States Monetary Supervisory Authority (OCC), compliance with United States freezing and seizure orders, and adjustment of the USDT reserve structure.
