Trump claims that the US-Iraq Temporary Ceasefire Agreement is over

On 8 July, the President of the United States, Trump, stated that the conclusion of his interim ceasefire agreement with Iran had increased the possibility of a resumption of military conflict between the two countries. "For me, I think it's over." He said at the NATO annual summit on Wednesday that “for me, this is just a waste of time”. Shortly before Trump made that statement, the United States launched a new wave of strikes against Iran and lifted its exemption to allow the sale of Iranian oil. These actions were in response to the recent attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which brought new volatility to the energy market and tested the already fragile peace agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. "I don't want to deal with them, but they're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum. They are sick people, led by sick people, they are violent people, they will use them if they have nuclear weapons.” Trump, however, stated that he would not prevent the negotiators from continuing to engage, despite his pessimism to that strategy.
