Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan: The escalation of the situation in the United States and Iraq is not in the interest of either party
On the evening of 9 July, local time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement expressing concern about the current escalation of tension between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran and stating that it was not in the interests of either side to escalate again. Pakistan calls on all parties to exercise restraint and to refrain from any action that could further undermine peace and stability in the region. The Palestinian side emphasizes that there is no alternative to sustained diplomatic engagement and dialogue to the common goal of regional peace. Pakistan urges the parties to implement effectively the commitments made in the framework of the memorandum of understanding. The Palestinian side stated that the memorandum of understanding remained a lasting basis for promoting mutual understanding, mutual respect and shared prosperity in the region and beyond. Pakistan reiterates its readiness to continue to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region. (observed)
