Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan: Condemnation of the Houthi armed threat to regional security
On 22 July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement on 22 July condemning the “continuing threat” posed by Yemeni Al-Houthi forces to Saudi Arabia and merchant ships passing through the Red Sea. The statement stated that any hostile action or violation of the maritime interests of Pakistan against ships flying the Pakistani flag would be considered a serious threat to the national security and sovereign interests of Pakistan. It reserves the right to take all necessary measures to defend itself, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law. Pakistan is deeply concerned about the attempts to involve Saudi Arabia in the war in the Middle East and strongly supports Saudi security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan insists on de-escalating the situation in the region through dialogue and diplomacy and calls on all warring parties in the Middle East to respect international law and to ensure the safety of international shipping。
