THE USSEC IS MOVING THE USU TOWARDS A 24-HOUR TRADE ROUND TABLE
On 23 July, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that a round table would be held at Washington headquarters on 17 September 2026 to discuss issues related to the transition of the United States stock market to a 24-hour trade, including preparations to support overnight trading, operations and resilience in the round-the-clock market, and the opportunities and challenges of expanding trading time. In his statement, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said, "We are moving towards a new day in the United States stock market -- and a new night. As the round-the-clock trade expands, I am excited to expect that the United States stock market will be connected to those markets that have achieved a continuous flow of transactions, and that a balance will be achieved in all-weather transactions, while protecting investors and customers. The round table will be open to the public and the discussion will be broadcast live on the SEC website, followed by video replays. The round table marked a further step forward in the modernization of the capital market infrastructure of the United States following the introduction of electronic delivery rules and encryption regulatory frameworks in Atkins。
