On 26 July, according to the Korean Federation, President Lee Jae-ming of Korea stated: “The Republic of Korea and the United States should expand their cooperation beyond long-standing security alliances to cover the areas of science, technology, innovation and start-ups.” He stressed that a combination of United States-class venture capital and global networks, with Korea ' s advanced technological strength and manufacturing competitiveness, would create a new set of global innovative enterprises. Lee has also called for greater cooperation and increased investment in Korea by venture capital firms in the United States, while committing to creating the most attractive investment and entrepreneurship environment worldwide. He stated that his country would reform its visa system to better attract entrepreneurial talent from abroad, while laying the foundation for a system of cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises, research institutions and investors.
