Immunefi: The number of hacking incidents in the encryption industry was high in the first half of 2026, with a loss of approximately $972 million Dollar

On 10 July, the Immunefi report showed that the encryption project had accumulated losses of approximately $972 million in the first half of 2026 as a result of 207 hacker attacks. Although the number of attacks had reached an all-time high, the total loss remained below $1 billion and less than half the scale of the damage in the first half of 2025. The report states that the loss from attacks in the DeFi area has fallen by 74 per cent from the peak of US$ 26.62 billion in 2022 to about US$ 680.3 million, and by 75 per cent over the same period in the medium to single losses. Immunefi argues that this decline is related to continued security coverage, the leakage reward scheme, the audit competition and the early detection of loopholes by more researchers. In addition, the source of risk is shifting from simple smart contracting loopholes to infrastructure failures, private key leaks, cross-chain configuration errors and privileged access to weak points。
