BitPay has been authorized by the Dutch regulatory authorities under the European Union's Encrypted Asset Market Act (MiCA). Through a Dutch subsidiary, companies can provide regulated digital asset services within the EU.
This permit covers encrypted payments, stable currency transactions and cross-border payment services. BitPay also indicated that both business clients and consumers would have more digital asset collection and management tools.
Expansion of EU operations
BitPay stated that the authorization would allow the operation to take place in the EU member States. A cooperative platform can also support the sale and exchange of encrypted money.
Thom de Jong, the company ' s European compliance manager, stated that this result had enhanced the capacity of BitPay service providers and individual users, and that MiCA was providing a unified framework for digital asset operations in Europe.
Europe's licensing competition has accelerated.
BitPay also joined the encryption companies Coinbase, Ripple and others that have acquired European Union-wide operating rights. With the end of the transitional period on 1 July, the pace of applications for licences and relocations in the European market has increased markedly.
BitPay added that the company would continue to promote European business in Amsterdam and increase regional infrastructure and cooperative inputs.
