Galaxy Digital's acquisition of 500 acres of land in Texas to build the second AI Data Centre campus

On 28 July, the encryption finance company Galaxy Digital announced that it had acquired approximately 500 acres of land in McGregor, Texas, United States, to build its second large AI and high performance computing (HPC) data centre campus in the state. The project, which will be carried out in conjunction with the city of McGrego and local partners, will have an initial planned capacity of 74 MW and is expected to have access to electricity by 2028, with plans to expand to hundreds of MW by 2030. Galaxy had previously acquired a mining site in Heliosbitcoin, Western Texas, in 2022, and gradually moved to AI and high performance computing operations.
