Telegram is embedding encrypted wallets deeper into its own product. Pavel Durov, the founder, stated that the original non-hosting Gram wallet will be released to all Telegram applications this summer, with the goal of enabling more than 1 billion live users directly to complete instant and zero-fee encrypted transfers in their applications.
Unlike existing @wallet
There are now @wallet robots in Telegram with over 150 million registered users. However, the product is operated by The Open Platform, which is not a Telegram primary function, and the default is a hosting property, i.e. part of the key is managed by the service provider.
The new wallet announced by Durov this time will be integrated directly into Telegram applications rather than allowing users to search and activate robots. More importantly, the new product is designed to be a non-host mode, with users taking ownership of the financial key.
However, several key details remain unpublished, including whether the new wallet will replace or parallel @wallet, which assets will be supported in addition to Gram, and how large-scale key management issues will be addressed when targeting ordinary users.
Coverage points to a larger entrance.
Using Telegram for over 1 billion live users, this will become the largest non-host wallet distribution in the encryption industry to date. The current mainstream of hosting wallets, although large in size, does not yet have products that face such large applications at the beginning of the line.
For Telegram, built-in wallets mean that users may send encrypted assets in a way that is closer to sending messages and no longer relies on separate exchange accounts or bank transfers. For businesses, this may also result in a more extensive and less costly payment route.
Gram's short-line price response
After the news was released, Gram rose by about 7 per cent, from a low of close to US$1.36 a day earlier to above US$1.52, with a market value of about US$ 41.80 billion. This partly recovered the decline in the coin in most of July, but prices were still significantly lower than their previous highs.
According to the article, Gram is still far from the high point of May 2026 and far below the historic height of June 2024. The market provided positive feedback on the release of the wallet, but the rebound was still limited.
Previous history of Telegram and Gram
Telegram started the relevant block chain project in 2018 and financed $1.7 billion for a token named Gram. Subsequently, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission sued the project, claiming that the relevant tokens belonged to the issue of unregistered securities.
In 2020, Telegram entered into a settlement with the United States regulator, returned $1.2 billion to investors and paid $18.5 million in civil fines, before withdrawing from the project. Since then, community developers have continued to facilitate the operation of the network along the chain and have long developed in the name of Toncoin.
By June 2026, with community support, Toncoin had completed the change of name and re-enabled Gram. This wallet project is seen as another step towards the re-enactment of Telegram's encrypted ecological layout.
To date, Telegram has not given the original wallet a specific date on line, but only indicated that it will be launched this summer.
