Fed Chairman Walsh: There is no “conflict” between the two missions of the Fed

On 30 July, Federal Reserve Chairman Walsh stated to journalists that he did not see a general “conflict” between the two components of the central bank's dual mission — to achieve maximum employment and to maintain price stability. “My judgment is that when we perform our duties, we will achieve both goals simultaneously.” Walsh said, adding that there is no alternative to inflation and employment. “Not a part of our mission has been forgotten”, he said, and pointed out that the real damage to the market is a problem of high and volatile inflation。
