Walsh called there a “consensus” within the Fed, despite a “controversial” debate

On 30 July, Federal Reserve Chairman Walsh stated that the decision makers had engaged in a “virtuous internal dispute” and that, despite differences in the results of the vote, there were many “consensus” among officials. “I heard general agreement that we have the powers, tools and statutory functions required to achieve price stability”, he said. “There are indeed differences on today's decision. But I do not think that this is a complete recapitulation of the essence of this discussion,” he said in a press conference after the resolution was published. “After the meeting, I am more convinced that this team is well placed to win the battle against high inflation.”
