On 30 July, Hawkins Council Commissions in Tennessee, United States, adopted a ban by 12 votes in favour to none against, prohibiting the establishment, construction, installation, expansion and operation of encrypted mining facilities and data centres in unorganized areas of the county. A similar ban was adopted by the Commission in September 2025 to prevent the digital asset company Exotic Ridge from carrying out mining operations on the ground, and a resolution confirming its competence was adopted in January. Exotic Ridge and Hawkins County officials proposed a settlement in January to allow the company to build and operate facilities under noise restrictions. The proposed provision requires that its A-weighted sibling noise shall not exceed 30 minutes or more than 80 db in any four hours at the property boundary. A law signed in April in Tennessee already outlaws the use and installation of encrypted currency ATM and self-help terminals and limits the transfer of equipment to fraudsters against residents。
