U.S. plans to launch a “heavy bombing” of Iran this weekend: a comprehensive counterattack is in place
On 2 August, the United States Department of State issued a broad security warning to United States citizens in the Middle East region on 1 August, recommending that they consider or prepare for a rapid withdrawal. According to United States sources, the United States is planning to launch “the most intense bombardment to date” of Iran's energy facilities, or to continue the operation throughout the weekend. However, President Trump has yet to issue a final operational order. It was also reported by the Iranian side that a senior Iranian security official had revealed that the Iraqi side had developed a comprehensive counter-attack programme, which included key Israeli infrastructure and United States energy facilities in the Middle East, and could be launched at any time.
