Mei may be negotiating a significant drop in international oil prices

On 3 August, international crude oil futures prices dropped significantly in the afternoon of 2 United States-East time, following the start of a new week of trading, as the market expected a new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran to take place soon. As at 1900 hours United States Eastern Time, the prices of light crude oil delivered by the New York Commodity Exchange in September had dropped by a minimum of $74.78 per barrel, or by 5.89 per barrel, or 6.96 per cent, as compared with the closing price at the previous date of the transaction, and by $81.55 per barrel, or $7.38 per barrel, as compared with the closing price at the previous day. The President of the United States, Trump, said to the media on his special plane in the afternoon that the United States would negotiate with Iran the following day.
