Boltz accelerated the indefinite suspension of bitcoin exchange services due to AI aid attacks

On 5 August, the non-hosting bitcoin exchange service, Boltz, suspended indefinitely the bitcoin exchange service and indicated that the service would be discontinued until further notice and that recovery time could not be provided. Boltz allows users to transfer bitcoin between the lightning network and the bitcoin base, without the company hosting the user funds. Boltz states that its infrastructure has been automated over the past few months, that AI ancillary detection has continued to increase and that it has addressed a number of gap utilization incidents. The company claimed that each incident had been controlled, but that the velocity of the attackers exceeded the ability of its team to detect and repair the loopholes. Boltz disclosed that the tempo of the attacks had accelerated over the past few days and that, after reviewing the results of the recent security scan, the company had concluded that it was not possible to re-activate exchange services responsibly. Its API can still be used to process collaborative refunds, which are still operational because they do not depend on the Boltz infrastructure and remain available for client support。
