South Korea's two giant executives are accused of losing their trust

On 5 August, according to Korean media reports, the Korean shareholder group had initiated criminal proceedings against Samsung Electronics and the CEO of SK Hercules, accusing him of not being bound by a collective bargaining agreement, and the police had opened an investigation into the case. On 5 August, a group of shareholders named “KOK Shareholders Movement Headquarters” stated: “In accordance with the Act on Aggravated Punishment for Specific Economic Offences, the cases of suspected violation of shareholders' trust by Samsung Electronics and the SK Hercules CEO have been transferred to the first and second search sessions of the South Kyeongjong Local Police Department, respectively”. Last month, the group filed a complaint with the Korea Police Office National Investigation Department (NOI) against Jun Young-hyun and Lutevin and KK Hercules CEO Guolu. The group considered that the authority concerned had agreed to pay the bonus without a full review of the collective agreement and had established a payment mechanism for the unreasonable consumption of the company ' s assets, thus constituting a breach of trust.
