The White House has confirmed that Trump has emptied the U.S. Electoral Assistance Commission

On 11 July, the United States White House confirmed that United States President Trump had removed two of the serving members of the United States Electoral Assistance Commission. Previously, it was reported that Trump dismissed Thomas Hicks and Benjamin Hofland, Democratic Democratic members of the Electoral Assistance Commission, on 9 September, and accepted the resignation of Christy McCormick, a Republican member. Another Republican member of the Commission, Donald Palmer, left earlier this year. At that point, all four members of the Committee remained vacant. In a statement to the media, the White House stated that the President “reserves the right to remove the persons concerned, who may not be fully committed to securing the elections in the United States and to ensuring that every legal ballot is counted”. The White House statement did not give any specific reasons for Trump ' s move. However, United States media reported that the Electoral Assistance Commission had rejected an executive order signed by Trump requiring voters to provide United States citizenship documentation on the national voter registration form.
