SpaceX to build a natural gas power plant and large storage facilities for the Texas chip plant

On 7 August, SpaceX (SPCX.O) plans to build its own power facilities for Terafab, a large semiconductor manufacturing plant developed by Tesla in Texas, United States. Riley Trettel, in charge of SpaceX energy and data centre development operations, stated on Wednesday in Grimes County, Texas: “We will be self-sufficient, we will build gas power plants and we will also build very large arrays of batteries to store energy.” These statements provide new details for the new factory plan being pursued by the two largest enterprises under the Mask flag. The surge in demand for electricity from data centres and new plants has boosted demand for new gas power plants, while Mask has long favoured vertical integration. It is not the first time that Mask and his companies have participated in the Texas energy market.
