WEEDDA, TOGETHER, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT PROMOTED THE INTRODUCTION OF THE 800V DIRECT-FLOW POWER SUPPLY STRUCTURE AND GRADUALLY INTRODUCED THE EXISTING AI PLANT
On 12 August, British Weida, along with Google, Microsoft and more than 80 equipment and infrastructure providers, promoted a 800V direct power supply structure to address the power efficiency and conversion losses associated with the continued increase in the airframe density of the AI server, and plans to gradually import the existing AI plant from the second half of 2026. According to Weida, the current infrastructure bottlenecks in AI are not just the total number of watts, but the efficiency of the transmission of electricity from the grid to GPU. 800V direct flow structures reduce the power conversion links between grids and accelerators. The company plans to launch the 800V direct current power source racks compatible with the MGX structure in the second half of 2026, so that the existing data centre can be upgraded gradually without the need for major modifications to the building and power supply systems. For new or high-density AI plants, Ying Weida plans to introduce a hanger power centre in 2027, which will provide power to multiple racks through an empty 800V direct stream, with a maximum of 2 MW power per rack. In the long run, it is planned to deploy DC Power Block at the end of the facility, which will directly convert the grid to 800 V currents. In Weida, Google and Microsoft currently promote standardization through open computing projects. As the AI server evolves from a 100 kW class to a MW class, equipment specifications such as high-pressure DC/DC, solid-state transformers, concourse charge, power semiconductors and power supply modules will be upgraded。
