Hungary abolished requirements for the conversion of encrypted assets and removed penalties of up to 8 years ' imprisonment
The Hungarian Parliament, by Act xxviii of 2026, abolished the requirements for authentication related to encrypted asset conversion services and removed penalties for unauthorized transactions of high-value encrypted assets up to five years ' imprisonment and for breaches of certification obligations up to eight years ' imprisonment to meet the EU MICA framework. The bill was voted on 31 July and implemented on 7 August。
