Anthropic hired the founder of the Google Chip Custom Chip to prepare for the self-study semiconductor

On 22 August, Anthropic hired Amir Salek, founder of the Google Custom Chip project, to prepare the IA laboratory for self-study in the semiconductor field. On Friday, Anthropic indicated that Salek would join Anthropic's math team and report to James Bradbury. Salek was in charge of Google's TPU operations until 2022 and participated in the launch of the first seven generations of TPU chips. Anthropic currently procures chips from a number of suppliers, including Weeda, Google and Amazon, but has recently released its will to establish its own chip business. The San Francisco-based company has begun to recruit and post information for the project. Like other AI giants, Anthropic is stepping up access to adequate data centre infrastructure to support its development objectives. Self-study chips are expected to help companies cope with supply shortages while tailoring their design to their own needs. Similar actions are being taken by the competitor OpenAI. The ChatGPT developer has released the Jelapeno chip developed with Chase and plans to start using it later this year。
