Canada will impose a reciprocal tariff on US commodities on September 8th

Canada announced that a retaliatory United States dollar-to-United States dollar tariff would be imposed on United States commodities from 8 September, following a decision to break down trade negotiations with the United States. The United States had previously imposed a 50 per cent tariff on about $20 billion of Canadian exports, and the Government of Canada planned to counter tariffs on United States steel, dairy, household appliances, agricultural equipment, electronics, pulp and paper. Although Canada has not yet published a list of final affected products, it is expected to pose a threat to cross-border supply chains and may increase the volatility of North American equities and Canadian dollars。
