United States Treasury expands sanctions against Iran in five areas, including digital assets

The United States Department of the Treasury announced the expansion of sanctions against Iran, which would impose secondary sanctions in five major areas, namely, digital assets, technology, aviation, gold and shipping, to counter Iran ' s sources of income abroad, and warned that foreign agencies that continued to operate with relevant Iranian entities might face United States sanctions. Minister of Finance Scott Bessent indicated that the new measures would increase the risk of sanctions for related transactions. Previously, the United States had sanctioned Iran ' s largest encryption exchange, Nobitex, and stated that it involved sanctions evasion, terrorist financing and Iran ' s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-related transactions. As of May this year, the United States had seized nearly $1 billion of Iranian-related encryption assets. The current round of sanctions also involves a number of digital asset addresses, including bitcoin wallets that the United States Department of the Treasury determines to be controlled by Arman Kahzadian。
