Becent did not release any more signals of US debt measures previously reported that the Treasury was using cash to buy back bonds

On Monday, 25 August, the United States Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Becent, did not release any further signals regarding the restructuring of United States debt management. There have been previous reports that the United States Treasury may use part of its cash reserves to finance the purchase back of stock bonds with a high return rate. Becent was asked at the press conference on Monday whether the buy-back would soon be expanded, saying, “We didn't even buy a bond”. Following a rise in long-term United States debt return to a maximum of one year, Becent announced an expanded national debt buy-back plan last week. On Monday, when asked whether a reduction in the size of the national debt auction was being considered, he said that the Ministry of Finance would “continue to implement the regular distribution scheme”. He indicated that no adjustments would be made until the next so-called quarterly refinancing announcement in early November。
