Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran: United States threats to launch a new round of sanctions against Iran are contrary to international law
On 25 August, on 24 August, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Baghae, held a press conference on regional issues, inter-American relations and other topical issues. In addition to stressing Iran ' s right to strike at all sources of aggression, the threat by the United States of a new round of sanctions against Iran constitutes a serious violation of international law. In response to the threat by the United States of so-called “most severe sanctions” against Iran, Baghae stated that his Government was aware of the economic pressures and commercial dilemmas facing the country at this stage as part of the pressure that the United States has exerted on the Iranian people over the past decades. The Iranian Government had previously studied and was doing everything possible to combat economic sanctions. He condemned the fact that the United States had called Iran's sanctions an “economic war”, which demonstrated its disregard for the system of free trade between States and national sovereignty.
