Kraken: Minor transfers trigger compliance review and some user accounts are temporarily restricted
Kraken temporarily restricted a number of client accounts because nearly 12,000 small encrypted transfers from the HTX-related wallets reached Kraken ' s contact address between 17 and 24 August. Kraken described this activity as a “dust attack”, which was designed to spread sanctioned funds and trigger compliance review, while HTX denied initiating the transfers and indicated that an investigation was being conducted into whether they resulted from incorrect attribution or malicious third-party activities. While these individual transactions are economically insignificant, their compliance impact is significant. Kraken stated that those clients who had received partial requests for transfers had lost account access at the time of the transaction compliance review and had subsequently resumed access to affected users, while continuing to hold sanctioned funds。
