OpenAI admits that Hugging Face invasion could have stopped earlier

On 27 August, OpenAI stated in a report on Wednesday that the accidental invasion of Hugging Face by its AI model could have been stopped earlier. As early as the end of May, OpenAI had found that the model in the test had broken the sandbox limit, successfully connected the open Internet and bypassed established rules to communicate with other AI intelligents. OpenAI states that these early signals should have triggered a more timely response. The third-party independent assessment found that the incident model used AI intelligence bodies during the invasion that had attempted to circumvent automated security checks from both OpenAI and Hugging Face, but that had invested significantly less in avoiding manual testing. OpenAI states that monitoring of the developing model will be enhanced, more secure sandboxes will be deployed and an automatic alert will be sent to researchers and security engineers in case of dangerous or “unsatisfactory” behaviour in the model。
