American media: the United States seeks to enter part of the Venezuelan oil fields

On 28 August, according to Axios, citing two United States officials, the Trump Government was negotiating with the interim Government of Venezuela to seek ownership rights over part of the country ' s oil fields, an agreement involving more than a dozen productive oil fields, not all of Venezuela ' s estimated 300 billion barrels of oil reserves. An official described it as “a great deal of understatement of this agreement and its scale”. In exchange for granting United States ownership rights, private companies, including United States enterprises, will be involved in oil field development, increasing production and generating more oil revenues for Venezuela. The negotiations were led mainly by United States Secretary of State Rubio and the acting President of Venezuela, Delci Rodríguez.
