Trump: “Most control” of over 65 billion barrels of oil reserves in the United States

On 29 August, the President of the United States, Trump, in a social media address, announced that the United States had reached an agreement with Venezuela to secure “majority control” over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves. According to Tripp, the American Commission, in collaboration with private enterprises, had acquired “majority control” of more than 65 billion barrels of oil reserves that Venezuela had discovered, at no cost to United States taxpayers. According to Trump, this deal “will more than double the United States oil reserves, significantly increase the oil supply and significantly reduce the price of United States gasoline for a long time to come”. Trump, however, did not disclose the specifics of the agreement and the White House has yet to issue an official message on the matter. Xinhua
