NEW YORK STATE WARNED AI TO PROMOTE THE INVESTMENT SCAM: US-RELATED LOSSES IN 2025 EXCEEDED $8 BILLION
On 30 August, Bitcoin com reported that the New York State Consumer Protection Department had warned that fraudsters were using the false voice, face, celebrity endorsement and fishing information generated by AI to package false investment platforms and encrypted money projects. Some platforms show false balances and returns on investment, even allowing victims to draw a small amount of money first to induce them to invest more. According to data from the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC), in 2025 a total of 144,041 consumers in the United States reported exposure to investment frauds, reporting losses of more than $8 billion, a 38 per cent increase over the same period, and a median loss of $10,560. The data cover all types of investment scams in the United States, not just AI or encrypted currency scams。
