Twenty-one international financial institutions will jointly establish the Stable Currency Corporation, with a planned United States dollar stabilization in the first half of 2027 Currency
On 1 September, 21 international financial institutions announced plans to set up a new company in the second half of 2026 to promote the issuance of a stable currency, the names of which will be published separately. The company will focus initially on dollar stabilization and plans to expand to more G7 currencies in the future, giving priority to the euro stabilization currency. Participating institutions include Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Swiss Bank, Bank of Rich Countries, BBVA, Santander Bank, MUFG Bank, etc. The stabilization currency scheme is oriented towards wholesale, institutional and retail markets and applies to cross-border payments, digital asset settlement, etc. The Group indicated that the currency stabilization programme would combine bank-level compliance, governance and ERM capacity and plan to meet the relevant regulatory requirements such as the United States GENIUS Act and the EU MiCA. The objective of the project is to formally launch the stabilization currency product in the first half of 2027。
