EIP-8222 TO ENHANCE THE PRIVACY OF THE CERTIFYING OFFICER AND THE INSTITUTION ' S PLEDGE FACES COSTS AND COMPLIANCE RIGHTS BALANCE
On 22 July, EIP-8222, EIP-8222, an ETA improvement proposal, plans to separate pledge deposits from withdrawals through a STARK-based cryptographic mechanism and to re-align the certifying officers in order to reduce the traceability of their activities. Currently about one third of ETH is in pledge. Thibault Dubuis, the head of the Sygnum Bank pledge and decentralised financial products, stated that the current deposit address, the certifying officer and the withdrawal certificate would form a visible link, bringing the size of the institution ' s holding, the time of entry and the pledge strategy closer to disclosure. The proposal is still under discussion and no deployment time has yet been scheduled. The design may involve arrangements such as fixed deposits, waiting periods for the receipt of assets, or higher implementation costs, process delays and compliance by institutional users。
