The United States House of Representatives passed a bill to restrict the sale and purchase of shares
On 23 July, according to Politico, on Wednesday, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill aimed at restricting the purchase and sale of shares by members of Congress and their families; however, there was disagreement within the party because some Democrats believed the bill was not strong enough. This bill, known as the “Stop Inner Trading Bill”, was adopted by 232 votes to 198, with 13 Democrats voting in favour. Of the total 93 co-sponsors of the bill, only two were Democrats. Another more restrictive bill — requiring members of Parliament and their families to sell shares currently held by individuals — did not enter the voting process in the plenary of the House of Representatives, although it enjoyed broader bipartisan support. Most Democrats consider the measure that has been adopted to be inadequate, as it does not contain provisions for the compulsory sale of existing holdings. The bill will be submitted to the Senate for consideration。
