In Weida proposes to provide $250 billion in financial guarantees for the OpenAI data centre project
On 27 July, according to the Wall Street Journal, NVDA.O is negotiating a financial guarantee of approximately $250 billion for OpenAI to support a large data centre project — This will be one of the most ambitious financial transactions in the United States of America in terms of artificial intelligence. According to sources, the guarantee from In Weida will help OpenAI to lease the 10 GW data centre project, which is being developed by the soft silver bank in southern Ohio. The total cost of the project (including chips deployed within the data centre) could exceed $500 billion and will be the largest data centre project announced to date. Electricity for the project is controlled by the United States Government and is financed separately by Japan under a recent trade agreement. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Lutnik was involved in power allocation decisions. Under the arrangement, British Wida would guarantee a range of financing instruments to enhance the confidence of lenders in the security of project funds. The terms have not yet been finalized and there is a risk that the transaction will break down. The $250 billion guarantee would cover the debt for the rental and construction of the data centre, excluding the British Virgin chip. Kim Xian
