Belet issued $12.55 billion in Meta data centre bonds, yielding 7.53 per cent
On 28 July, Berber reported that the investment-grade bond of $12.55 billion issued by Beled for the Meta data centre project in El Paso, Texas, had risen during the Monday morning roll-out. The rate of return on the issuance of the bond was 7.53 per cent, 287.5 basis points higher than the United States Treasury debt, a level more common in the garbage debt market. At the issuance stage, the related bond subscriptions were approximately $20 billion, or 1.6 times the issuances, which is significantly below the average of about four times the level of the bond issue this year. However, higher rates of return eventually attracted investors, with bond yield spreads in secondary markets having narrowed to about 260 basis points higher than United States Treasury debt, down from 287.5 basis points at the time of issue. Recently, technology companies have been heavily engaged in large-scale bond financing, and the ability of investors to absorb new AI-related debt has been constrained. Science and technology bonds had previously been sold, and companies such as Alphabet continued to expand capital spending and possibly further debt, weakening the market ' s demand for newly issued bonds. The early performance of this bond in Beled contrasts with recent issuances by companies like SpaceX. Following the completion of SpaceX ' s first investment-grade bond issue in June, the related bond fell in the secondary market and investors were once faced with a large book loss。
