Reuters survey: Analyst ' s first down payment forecast since the end of 2023, but a central bank buy will ease the fall
On 28 July, a Reuters survey showed that, after a significant fall in gold prices from a record high in January, analysts had for the first time revised their price projections downwards since the end of 2023, but most still expect that central bank buys and concerns about fiscal sustainability will support them. In a survey of 29 analysts and traders over the past three weeks, the median price of gold in 2026 is projected at $459 per ounce. This figure is lower than $4916 three months ago and is the first downward projection since 11 quarters. The average projection for 2027 was $4610, compared to $5,100 for the previous round. The price of gold, which had reached an all-time high of $5,595 per ounce in January, fell sharply in the second quarter, the worst in the quarter since 2013, when energy inflation was exacerbated by the war in Iran and higher interest rates were expected. Cash gold has fallen by about 22 per cent since the outbreak of the war。
