TechCrunch quotes a US Securities and Exchange Commission document that only two years after its establishment, Chemistry Ventures is raising $500 million for the second fund. The first such fund, which had previously been launched by the Agency, was US$ 350 million, mainly for early science and technology start-ups.
First fund size is $350 million
Chemistry Ventures was created by Mark Goldberg, Ethan Kurzweil and Kristina Shen. Three served in Index Ventures, Bessemer and Andressen Horowitz. It was reported that the agency was established in such a way as to bring the investment experience of large-scale delivery platforms into more focused early investment operations.
Investing in infrastructure and financial technology
According to public information, Chemistry Ventures focuses on the development of tools, financial technologies and infrastructure. Its projects have included Granola, Decagon, Persona, Serval and Nova Intelligence.
In terms of the size of this fund-raising exercise, Chemistry Ventures' second fund has been scaled up more than the first one, demonstrating its desire to continue to expand the market for early investment in science and technology.
Company has not responded to request for evaluation
By the time the report was released, Chemistry Ventures had not responded to TechCrunch's request for comment. The information available comes mainly from regulatory documents, and the report on progress in the completion of the current round of fund-raising, the composition of the funders and the time of eventual closure is not disclosed.
