OpenAI began to extend the AI assistant from the software interface to the physical device. The company launched a $230 optic keyboard for AI programming assistant Codex, trying to shift common operations from desktop applications to specialized hardware.
Special keyboard for Codex
The device is called Micro and can be associated with the ChatGPT desktop application. Keyboard sets the luminant Agent Keys to show the proxy status; it is also equipped with a custom command key that allows users to quickly perform the usual Codex operation.
The equipment was also equipped with a roller pole for the start of a common workflow, as well as a knob to regulate the “debate” intensity used by agents in the mission. According to OpenAI, this is equivalent to the amount of time and credit invested by the controlling agent in the performance of his or her mission.

OpenAI indicates to TechCrunch that Micro is a limited cooperation project. This means that it is more like a small-scale water test than a large-scale hardware release for the public market.
From product positioning, this keyboard is closer to the Codex extension. Its central function is not to replace computers, but to centralize agency calls, status observations and shortcut commands to an independent control end.
Another unscreened device is still under development.
The market is more concerned with another unlisted OpenAI hardware than with this release. Bloomberg had previously disclosed that it was a handy, screen-free smart device with access to ChatGPT and with a self-moveable mechanical structure.
At the moment, OpenAI has not published more details. It was mentioned that the equipment was still in the development stage and that the design programme might be adjusted in the future.
Apple litigation became a background factor.
This hardware layout is also in the context of legal controversy. The report mentions that the new equipment was designed with the participation of the former Apple Engineer, who was indicted last week by OpenAI for obtaining confidential information about the apple for the development of his own hardware.
OpenAI denies the existence of misconduct. As the company continues to advance its hardware product line, this litigation also serves as an important background for external observation of its hardware strategy.
