THE USSEC IS RECONSIDERING NASDAQ BITCOIN OPTIONS TO RESPOND TO CME LEGAL CHALLENGES
On 2 August, CoinDesk reported that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had suspended the approval of the NASDAC Bitcoin Index option and would reconsider it to respond to the legal challenges posed by the Chigro Group (CME). The authorization was frozen until 24 August for comments. QBTC will remain suspended until the Committee completes its deliberations. In May this year, the SEC approved the product on a conditional basis, subject to an exemption from the CFTC. In June, the firm objected that Bitcoin was a large commodity and that its options should fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of CFTC and not SEC. In the event that the Chia business claims to be established, NASDAQ is required to register as a futures platform under the supervision of CFTC or to redesign the contract。
